i’m older than people think i am
and know myself better than people think i do
so i know this is more than just a passion
it’s more than a hobby or way to pass the time
a fire inside takes over, and bless it
for taking over every single day
feeling blessed by the creator of creators
to come here and keep on coming every day
without hope and without expectation
but with grit, with my deep inner strength
bless the keys my fingers dance over
and bless the brain in my head for never
letting me down with a lack of ideas
because even when i feel i’m lacking those
i know all the usual places i can get them
bless the ones that came before and
bless the hearts of the ones who dare come after
it’s only going to get harder than this, honey
it’s only going to hurt more
